Adventure on the high seas

This half-term, 10 of our senior girls had the adventure of a lifetime on board Wyvenhoe, a 90ft Thames Sailing Barge. They sailed out of London on the tide early on Thursday morning, and up the East Coast, where they spent 3 days exploring, sailing, crabbing - and revising for the following week's exams - before coming ashore in Maldon. An unforgettable experience!    (see the gallery for more photos)

Netball champions

With only 7 girls available for the team, our Under 11s set off for Hatherop Castle with some trepidation on 12th March, to face 7 other schools in a tournament. Imagine our delight when the news came through that they had won - with 6 victories and one draw!

English Speaking Board

Our examiner this summer said that ours were the best results she had ever given - all the children from the age of 6 have taken ESB exams this year, giving talks ranging from 'Queen Mary's Dolls House' (see picture) and 'Being a Twin' to 'Lego' and 'Recycling Plastic', and all have demonstrated the art of real communication, each in his or her individual way.

Maths challenge

One May afternoon, we challenged the children to complete challenges against the clock, combining physical skills - catching, skipping, step-ups, throwing - with their tables! Great fun - and very good for their maths!

Riding champions

On a chilly Sunday in February, our riding team took on no fewer than 13 other schools (with a total of 197 competitors) to emerge victors at the Dragon School show-jumping competition.

Saxon village

Our 9-year-olds have been busy this term building their own miniature Saxon village, and have created some highly intricate buildings, using wattle and daub techniques. This has absorbed them in their history lessons and through many break times too.
