A visit to France

Year Five spent the week before Half Term in France brushing up their French language skills.  The children enjoyed following cake recipes in French, listening to and responding to instructions given in a dance class in Lombez and visiting the local market.  This was great fun as the children had to buy a vegetable that they had never seen before and then taste and discussed once they got back to the house at La Chaumiere. They also had fun trying out a new obstacle course at the Lake in Samatan.

The trip also included visits to the Bell Museum and the House of Claude Auge, who was the chief illustrator of the Petit Larousse. Before we left La Chaumiere, the children all painted a tile to add to the ones which cover the walls of the Art Studio and leave a memory of their visit for visitors to come.
