Kitebrook Preparatory School pulled off a double victory at the regional finals of the Race for the Line - Micro:bit Model Rocket Car Competition England & Wales on Wednesday 3rd of May. Having sent three teams to the competition Kitebrook took 1st and joint 3rd in the Primary category beating stiff competition from schools including The Dragon, Merchant Taylors’ and Abbey Hill School Prep. Not only did Kitebrook’s winning time take the team to the top of the primary category, it came second overall against 27 teams from both junior and senior schools.
The competition is inspired and supported by the Bloodhound Super Sonic Car project to break the land speed record.
The winning team are now through to the national finals this summer, with prizes that include a VIP trip to South Africa to see BLOODHOUND SSC race.
Whatever the result of the final, Kitebrook Prep will have its name painted on the fin (along with the other regional finalists) of the Bloodhound car, in recognition of their efforts, ready for the land speed record to be broken.
