we place great emphasis on identifying and developing the gifts and potential of each child

The Cottage 3-5

The Cottage at Kitebrook provides an excellent education for girls and boys aged three to five years. The setting is open 8:40am – 6.00 pm, term time only, and a flexible attendance pattern can be organised to suit your child’s needs.

In our Preschool, children aged 3 - 4 years are provided with a stimulating, individualised learning environment as they embark upon their early education.  Particular emphasis is placed upon establishing excellent personal, social and communication skills.  The children also enjoy specialist class teaching for Forest School, Music and PE.

Children in our Reception Classes love coming to full time school and develop a real passion for learning.  Our settling in sessions and taster days give children joining Kitebrook an opportunity to become familiar with the school environment, get to know the teachers and make new friends.

At Kitebrook, we place great emphasis on identifying and developing the gifts and potential of each child.  Small class sizes enable us to get to know the children well. We pay attention to their individual learning needs and allow time to extend and challenge their learning.

In Reception, emphasis is placed upon embedding the key skills of reading, writing and numeracy.  Children are heard read every day and take part in daily phonics sessions to develop their independent reading and writing skills.  Problem solving, reasoning and numeracy are taught through practical, hands on learning experiences.

At Kitebrook, we like to go beyond the formal curriculum, using cookery sessions and creative opportunities to make learning fun.  Children also enjoy weekly swimming sessions and have specialist teachers for Art, French, Music and PE.

Our children have their own indoor and outdoor classrooms, allowing for free flow provision. They also take part in weekly Forest School sessions where they have the opportunity to learn important life skills. We explore the natural environment, how to handle risks and most importantly to use their own initiative to solve problems and co-operate with others.

Our early years children see older children excel in all subjects and take on leadership positions in school. So, from the moment they join Kitebrook, children are encouraged to see themselves going places. By the end of their Reception class year our children are keen to learn, eager to take part in school life and inspired to succeed.
