Art at Kitebrook provides an exciting opportunity for our pupils to explore a fascinating range of artistic challenges in a truly beautiful setting, all within our purpose built studio. We aim to enrich the work of every child through the use of our bespoke and individual sketchbook scheme, and participation in our after school art extension club provides a further boost to all enthusiastic, gifted and talented artists.
We study a wide range of interesting contemporary and historical artists and encourage pupils to attend relevant exhibitions, some of which are organised as part of the school curriculum. From Georgia O’Keefe to The Bayeux Tapestry and Ancient Greek artefacts at the Ashmolean Museum—there is always something new and stimulating to discover.
Music and Drama
Every term at Kitebrook there is a drama production in which every child takes part. The very youngest perform a traditional Nativity play in the Michaelmas term; the Upper School perform a musical in the local, and beautiful, Chipping Norton theatre, with fully professional rig, sound and support. In the Trinity term Years 3 and 4 tackle such diverse subjects at A.A Milne and Shakespeare.
The music department has many ensembles; the chiefest of which are the school orchestra and senior choir. There are peripatetic lessons on all orchestral instruments as well as singing, piano and classical guitar. There are many highlights during the musical year including the carol service, prize giving, visits to venues such as Symphony Hall Birmingham, the Liverpool Echo Arena and Winchester Cathedral as well as our own half-termly concerts in the new Hall called ‘Pupil’s Party Pieces’.
