Seniors

Embarking into the Seniors is an exciting time for our pupils. Specialist subject teaching, more independence, opportunities to develop intellectually, the chance to become part of the Pupil Leadership Team, and more responsibility are a small sample of the areas to enjoy.

The Seniors at Kitebrook comprises Years 6, 7 and 8 and pupils move away from being taught predominantly by their class teacher, and take lessons with subject specialists (for example Science, Geography and Outdoor Education). Small class sizes allow focused attention to ensure that every child becomes a confident learner both inside and outside the classroom.

We are very proud of our 100% success rate in securing our pupils their first choice of 13+ senior school on departure from Kitebrook and of the outstanding education we are able to provide. The Upper School years are a time of significant development in your child’s education; our excellent pastoral care enables us to take an all-round approach to their progress. Each class has a tutor who delivers high quality and consistent pastoral care through regular contact each day with pupils and allocated form time, PSHEE (Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education) and Study Skills. Pupils are encouraged to talk openly with their tutors, who quickly establish a good rapport and sense of trust with each tutee. There is a wealth of extracurricular activity available and a key role of the tutor is to encourage a healthy balance between academic work and the valuable experiences outside the classroom. Class teachers, tutors, and the Leadership Team are always pleased to discuss your child’s progress. Working together is the best way to ensure your child's success and happiness.

Pupils at the top of the school are encouraged to apply for and take on roles of responsibility such as Heads of House, School Council Representative, Prefect, and Sports Captain to name but a few. The older children benefit hugely from the experience of leading the pupil body and are fantastically prepared for life beyond Kitebrook as a result.
